JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

Along with its most famous tree, Joshua Tree National Park is well-known for its stark desert vistas and untamed rock formations. The Joshua tree, which thrives in extreme adversity, was regarded as a representation of hope and trust in the face of aridity. Because its branches reminded early Mormon settlers of Joshua raising his arms in prayer, they gave the tree the name Joshua in honor of the Old Testament prophet. Joshua Tree is another amazing desert landscape, very different from Death Valley.
